Hello!
In the past 9 months Augmented Pixels was in stealth mode as we were focusing on several big projects in AR/VR and Robotics.
It is the right time to disclose some interesting details which are not under 100+ NDAs:
1. Augmented Reality Glasses: Full SLAM
We start the production of our own 3D module for inside-out tracking, based on a stereo camera (VGA, 10-20+ FPS) and IMU(400Hz).
AP’ SLAM requires just 1 core of Snapdragon 835 to provide you with the full SLAM functionality, including 6DOF, mapping and relocalization.
You can switch on the Mono mode of the 3D Module to test our SLAM in the Monocular Mode as well.
In the nearest future we plan to port our SLAM on DSP.
Please don’t be scary, but this is how the demo looks like right now : )
Yes, this prototype is huge and UGLY, BUT it has very basic cameras and IMU inside, which allows us to achieve the best costs-effective solution on the market
You can test it at any time in our office in Palo Alto!
2. Robotics: Relocalization, Wheel Odometry (NO LIGHT), Mapping
Since our SLAM is very cost-effective, we have very interesting experience in robotics from a calibration process to the actual production.
We can share only our proprietary and independently developed core IP on an open platform IRoomba Dev Kit
Demonstration of Mapping and Relocalization: link.
Demonstration of Wheel Odometry (NO LIGHT): link
Right now, we have comprehensive inexpensive solution for home robotics where we can fuse standard camera + imu + wheels with IR cameras to achieve 24h work during different lighting conditions (morning – non-evening – night).
3. FUTURE
Since we have one of the best SLAMs on the market, we can move forward and actively work on several GLOBAL concepts, which will be in high demand in the nearest future:
-
- AR Cloud / Global SLAM as next “Global Positioning System” from outdoor to indoor (read my article “Why SLAM 3D maps for Augmented Reality and Robotics will be worth more than Google Maps”);
- Production-ready infrastructure that can facilitate purposeful communication between devices in a living room (read my article “Robots and AR glasses: Synergy in Living Room using Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Cloud.”)
Hope this newsletter was interesting for you!
Let me know if you have any ideas about cooperation!
Best Regards,
CEO and Founder of Augmented Pixels
